: I'm looking for a vacuum coffee maker. Do they still make them new? Thanks for your help. Tom
Tom and all interested:
The Vacuum extraction method or simply known as the "Vacuum Pot" is still the finest and ultimate way to brew coffee. All other methods were invented soley for the purpose of convenience. For those who have not experienced the process, look no further, you have finally discovered "it".
If you are lucky enough to live in a large metro inner city area like Portland Oregon, you will see these beautiful antiques turn up in junk and antique stores. For those who want a new model,
I would suggest the Hardlines Service Co. in Aurora Ohio. They distribute the new models manufactured by Bodum of Denmark. They also supply
the separate parts, upper bowl, lower bowl, milled disk spring tension filter, etc.
However the prefered method of filtration is still the original glass rod with floating ball or bead. Only glass comes in contact with the brew. All volatile oils are allowed to infuse into the brew. Look for these antique glass
rods in antique and junk stores.
Good luck !
